Dr. Ang Kwee Huay, Doreen

Biography

Also called family doctors or internists, general practitioners often develop an ongoing relationship with patients, providing continuity of care. They treat common medical conditions and perform routine exams. They refer patients to other medical services or doctors if patients need urgent or specialized treatment. A general practitioner focuses on a patient's overall health: physical and mental. They serve an important role in a much wider healthcare system. One of their main goals is to keep patients healthy and out of the hospital.

In 1994, Dr Ang graduated from the National University of Singapore with distinctions in Medicine and Surgery. She continued her study by followed United States Medical Licensure Exam in 1995. She was also training for the Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course in 1996 and continued with the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course in 1997. 2 years ago, in 2020, Dr Ang went back to her training for Basic Cardiac Life Support Course.

Postgraduate training, Dr Ang worked as houseman for 1 year, from 1994 to 1995. She worked at Toa Payoh Hospital General Surgery, Alexandra Hospital Internal Medicine, and KK Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology. She continued her job as medical officer under the Ministry of Health from 1995 to 2000. At those years, she worked at National University Hospital Accident and Emergency Department, Singapore General Hospital Accident and Emergency Department, KK Children’s Accident and Emergency Department, Family Health Service- Woodlands and Geylang Polyclinic, National University Hospital Anesthesia Department, Singapore General Hospital Renal Medicine, National University Hospital General Surgery, and School Health Service.

From 2000 until current time, she working as a locum doctor who have covered many locum duties in different locations, such as StarMed Specialist Centre Health Screen Clinic, Bethesda Medical Centre Health Screen Clinic, Frontier Medical Associates, Resident Family Doctor at Silver Cross Family Clinic (Yishun), Locum Medical, Officer at Changi General Hospital Accident and Emergency Department, Locum Medical Officer at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital Accident and Emergency Department, Locum Resident Medical Officer at Thomson Medical Centre Accident and Emergency Department, and Locum Resident Medical Officer at Thomson Medical Centre Health Screening Centre.

This Doctor who loves traveling and art collection also participated as Medical coverage for sports events - Singapore League, Youth Olympics Games in August 2010. During COVID-19 pandemic, from April to September 2020, she was working at the Medical Post at Sungei Tengah Lodge under NUHS and many other dormitories under Singhealth/SGH.
