Dr. Kong Yan Ling

Biography

A dermatologist is a doctor who specializes in conditions involving the skin, hair, and nails. A dermatologist can identify and treat more than 3,000 conditions. These conditions include eczema, psoriasis, and skin cancer, among many others.

Dr. Kong Yan Ling is well-versed in skin surgery and is experienced in managing a broad range of general dermatology conditions including but not limited to eczema, psoriasis, acne, pigmentary disorders, hair/ nail disorders, skin allergies and urticaria. In addition, as a result of her experience in inpatient dermatology, she is confident with the use of systemic medications and biologics to manage patients with severe eczema, psoriasis, urticaria and immunobullous diseases. Dr Kong believes in providing up-to-date, personalized and holistic care for her patients.

Prior to joining Dermatology & Surgery Clinic, Dr Kong was a Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre (NSC), and a Visiting Consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. At NSC, she was a core dermatologist in the divisions of pediatric dermatology and inpatient/hospital dermatology. She was also appointed a clinical tutor for the National University of Singapore (NUS), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University. In recognition of her dedication to educating junior doctors, she was awarded the National Healthcare Group Teaching Excellence Award.

Dr Kong graduated from NUS in 2011, and was placed on the Dean’s list for consecutive years. In 2013, she entered the Dermatology Seamless Programme. She excelled in her training years, and was awarded the prestigious Ego-NSC Registrar Fellowship Award, where she did an attachment at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, Australia in 2018. Dr Kong completed her specialist training in Dermatology in 2018, graduating top of her cohort. She also holds a distinction for a postgraduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology, conferred by the University of Cardiff in 2020. A firm believer of lifelong learning, Dr Kong is in the midst of completing her Masters in Practical Dermatology with the University of Cardiff. Dr Kong is also actively involved in research and has published widely in numerous international peer-reviewed journals. She has also written several pediatric dermatology-centric book chapters. Dr Kong has given oral and poster presentations in both local and international dermatology conferences, and was awarded Best Case Report Presentation in the Dermatology Update Conference in 2018.

Dr Kong is a member of the Dermatological Society of Singapore, Asian Society of Pediatric Dermatology and International Society of Pediatric Dermatology. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (Dermatology).
