Dr. Lee Andrew Clayton

Biography

A breast surgeon has a strong commitment to the evaluation and care of patients with diseases of the breast and breast malignancy. Many surgeons have expertise in breast cancer care, both with and without fellowship training. Membership in the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) implies that a physician has a special interest in breast care. Many of the pioneers in the field of breast surgery began practicing breast surgery prior to the time that breast fellowships were available. There are innumerable surgeons who have years of surgical experience and have made a great commitment to taking care of patients with breast disease and malignancy. These surgeons have made a commitment to providing the very highest quality of care.

Dr Lee was born in Hong Kong and grew up in the U.K. He graduated from University of Glasgow, UK with distinctions in Medicine and Surgery. He continued his specialist training in general surgery in the UK, breast cancer research at the National Medical Laser Center and Institute of Nuclear Medicine at University College London, and subspecialist training in breast surgery at the Edinburgh Breast Unit, UK. He undertook those postgraduate surgical training from 1996 to 2008.

To further his specialist interest in oncoplastic breast surgery, and completed successfully his Master of Surgery for Oncoplastic Breast Surgery in University of East Anglia, UK and Master of Science for Health Systems and Public Policy in University of Edinburgh, UK in 2011. Dr. Lee also awarded as Doctor of Medicine for Research in University College London, UK. He is actively engaged in research especially in the field of electrochemotherapy and electroporation medicine. Dr Lee has Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Commissioning, University of Birmingham, UK in 2014. To further his interests in personalized medicine, Dr Lee completed the taught component of his Master of Science in Cancer and Molecular Pathology and Genomics at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London. He was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2008 and the Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine Singapore in 2015.

Dr. Lee has so much experience in medicine, especially surgery. He is a general surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He specializes in oncoplastic breast surgical procedures to treat screen-detected benign and malignant breast conditions. He has interests in emerging technologies for the management of breast cancer such as electrochemotherapy, lipomodelling and intraoperative radiotherapy to suit the individual needs of his patients. Dr Lee held the position of a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at the Ninewell Hospital and Medical School, Dundee, UK, in 2008. He relocated to Singapore in 2014 and was appointed consultant breast surgeon at Changi General Hospital. Within his first 4 years as a consultant surgeon in Singapore, he had received the Singapore Health Quality Service Award (Star) and Eastern Health Alliance Caring Award (Gold & Silver) in recognition of the quality of care he gave to his patients.
